Product Instructions

Filling:
To fill the Habba Mist's 28 ounce water reservoir, remove the top right hand (when viewing from the front) cap, and fill the water reservoir with distilled or bottled water.

If using Tap Water (not recommended) make sure you add Reptisafe to remove any chlorine, ammonia, or chloramines from your tap water. Reptisafe will also add electrolytes to your tap or distilled water. After you have filled the unit with water, return and tighten the reservoir cap.

Adjust Spray Nozzle/Mist:
Both the spray nozzle and the rmote spray nozzle will allow you to adjust the spray from "Off" to "Spray/Mist", to "Spray/Stream" by turning them counterclockwise.

Electricity:
First, make sure the on/off switch is in the off position. When using the Habba Mist indoors, we recommend using the 6 volt AC adaptor. For portability, use 4 "C" batteries (not included). Please note: The batteries also act as a "safety backup" and will continue to run the unit in the event of a power outage. If you are using the unit with a timer, you cannot have batteries inside or they will continue to operate the unit when the timer turns off. Please remove batteries from the Habba Mist when the unit is not in use for extended periods of time.

Hanging/Mounting Unit:
The remote spray nozzle must always be positioned above the Habba Mist to prevent a Siphon from draining the reservoir.

The most secure way to mount the Habba Mist is with the attached adjustable mounting hooks. Turn the hooks to the outside to adjust their height, and turn them parallel to each other to lock their position. Simply hand the unit inside or outside your terrarium. Mounting hooks rest on the top rim of the terrarium or the horizontal bars of a wire cage. If hanging the Habba Mist on the outside of a cage, you will need to use the remote sprayer with clip to rotate the sprayer cap to face back into the cage and spray through the bars, mesh, etc...On bird cages/aviaries it is always recommended that you hang your Habba Mist on the outside of the cage to prevent any bird from chewing, pecking, or otherwise tampering with the unit. The remote sprayer tubing attaches to the opposite side of the spray cap. You will need to turn "off" the main adjustable spray nozzle (turn clockwise), open the valve, remove the rubber cap, and attach the silicone tubing to use the remote sprayer. The remote sprayer comes with a "clip", which allows you to anchor to it wood, plastci plants, or other decorations on your terrarium.

Suction Cups hold down:
This feature can be used with glass terrariums to hold the unit firmly in place. This feature will also allow you to mount the Habba Mist lower than the adjustable mounting hooks would allow, in very deep terrariums.

Product Reviews

Henry S from Michigan says:
This is an OK system as long as you can get it setup to spray properly. I have mine setup with the remote sprayer, and it does not do a very wide spray area (I would say 4inch at the bottom). The noise is not so bad, a little on the loud side for what it is, but it could be worse I suppose. I found that the shorter you have the hose on the remote nozzle, the better it works. As far as it being a mist, its not really what I would call a mister, but like I said, it does the job (kinda).

Christy H from California says:
I have a Chameleon who needs alot of misting. This item has helped me out so much!!! I love it. I have two live plants in his cage so I set it up to drip and spray in them. I love this item and so does my Chameleon. He knows when it is going to go off so when he is thirsty he sits by a plant leaf and takes his drinks. He also stands under it when he is shedding.

Robert H from New Mexico says:
I live in southern New Mexico and have two Chinese Water Dragons which ideally need their humidity at 75 – 80%. If you live in a dry place like me the Habba Mister will not maintain humidity that high in a 60 gallon tank. On the other hand as some of the other reviews have mentioned it does produce a nice “Rain Effect” and my dragons love to get sprayed by it. Other reviews have also mentioned its noise level, it is kind of loud and it’s not something you would want anywhere near your bedroom if you’re a light sleeper. If you looking for a solution for humidity, the Zoo Med Repti Fogger works great and can be controlled by the Zoo Med Hygro Therm for precise, almost hastle free, humidity control.

Colt M from Virginia says:
It should definately not be called a mister. It is very noisy and sprays portions of water instead of misting. I see little use for it unless you want it to leave water droplets for dew licking animals. It has little to no effect on the humidity, it is only good for soaking the tank bedding. I would highly recommend buying a fogger or humidifier instead. They are a lot more worth the money. I no longer even use the misting machine. It is the most expenisive piece of equipment for the tank and its not even used.

John H from Manitoba says:
We have 2 prehensile tailed skinks and this unit works great to keep the tank humidity at a constant 60-65% , much easier than hand spraying every day. So far so good, works much better than the fogger we tried, and a reasonable price as well. Also Reptile Supply shipped it in a more than reasonable time frame. We would recommend this item as well as this company.

Brandon L from Tennessee says:
Item works great for someone that needs high humid. It does not do a fine mist but not a stream either as I have read in some reviews. The fact that I can keep it out of the tank is great too.

Russell F from California says:
The Habba Mist is very noisy and does not actually produce a "mist." Ours stopped working after only a few weeks of use.
We found the misty mate nozzles coupled with a garden hose timer and a presure sprayer from OSH or Home Depot to be a much better solution.

Colleen M from Minnesota says:
Not a "mister". It provide a rain type spray. Very noisy. For our crested geckos we decided that hand spraying in the am and pm was actually easier, quieter and less hassle. We also had some trouble attatching it to their habitat without having an escape route where the tubing line would need to run (we have a basic enclosure without all the fancy cut outs for hoses).

this mister works great for all my chameleons it could hold more water you need to fill it about every 2 days but over all it is great

Beth S from Ohio says:
It is good for the busy lifestyle. I was cutting my days into 3 intervals to go home to mist my frogs. I tried to count on my 16 year old to mist if I needed to work late but she would forget. My vet suggested this machine and I have be VERY happy since. Also the people at Reptilesupply.com are very good at what they do and customer service is amazing. Thank you all very much for your help and advice.

Jennifer R from Alaska says:
This product actually exceeded my expectations. I pictured a much smaller unit, although it didn't really matter, because the remote nozzle extention keeps you from having to place the whole unit inside the cage. Without that feature I would have hardly been able to use the machine.

Up until now I have "hand misted" and this MISTING machine gives you about the same spray as hand misting does. This is not a FOGGING machine, which would give you a super fine mist that would hang in the air. I was not at all disappointed by the grade of the spray from the machine. I am currently using this for an acclimating Emerald Tree Boa, who I have been having plenty of trouble keeping humid enough, but this machine seems to be doing the trick just perfect! I am actually ordering another one for my larger male green tree python.

The machine is a little noisy - but really only if you pay attention to it. The last two times it went off I was laying on the couch (not 15 feet away) watching TV and didn't even notice the sound.

The reservoir isn't very big, but it is easy to fill (I don't even have to take mine to the sink, I just bring a glass of water over to it) and the side of the machine has a clearish "window" so you can easily tell how full it is.

All in all, the only things I would change are the mounting clip for the remote nozzle which is very weak, and the length of the tubing for the remote nozzle. Perhaps they should send a lengthy piece of tubing so that the customer could "trim to fit". I found myself wondering if I could rig myself up a T connector and some more tubing and another nozzle to see if I could get one to mist two of my smaller cages.

I am very impressed, and my fingers and arms will be glad not to have to do all that pump spraying anymore.

Also, as it has been said - this site has the absolute best price on this item that you will find anywhere.

like they say, it doesnt mist, its more of a rain machine, but its good at that. seems to work perfectly so far

William K from Louisiana says:
This machine is not without faults, but overall, I like mine very much. I wouldn't try to keep a crested gecko without one. The controls are user-friendly and reliable. For my needs, the reservoir size is adequate. A bigger reservoir would be nice, but I can go a few days between fill-ups. The suction cups have worked well holding the unit to the back of a glass cage for the few months that I've had it. The lack of siphon protection is a relatively small weakness in my mind. The noise is bothersome, but I'm getting used to it. My biggest complaint is that keeping the remote nozzle aimed in the proper direction is difficult. The first improvement that I'd like would be a more secure way of holding the remote nozzle in place. In spite of these weaknesses, I think this machine is great.

Nathan M from Massachusetts says:
Pros:
1) Pricewise, the cost:effectiveness ratio of this product is great, this site has the best deal you'll find on it.
2) Easy to set, and the built in timer seems to be accurate to within seconds.
3) The remote nozzle means that you don't have to take up valuable cage real estate with the mister.

Cons:
1) As has been said, this is not a true misting machine, but rather it creates a fine spray of water. A minor point, but one nonetheless.
2) Noisy.
3) Remote nozzle isn't siphon-proofed. It has to be above the level of the resevoir to keep it from draining out into the cage.
4) Small resevoir size means frequent fill ups.

Nadine S from Arizona says:
We have been using these for a few years now.
These machines work fine to spray, rain or drip in a cage but will not deliver a fine mist like one might expect. The multiple settings make it easy to adjust schedule and quantity of water. Very easy to hang and use.
Cons: very loud, but at least you know it's working. Also, the little tank of water is quite small and needs to be refilled very often, no possibility to connect to a water source.
This site offers a good price on the item.

ANTHONY P from New Jersey says:
THIS IS NOT A MISTING MACHINE AS THE NAME WILL HAVE YOU BELIEVE, IT IS MORE OF A RAIN TYPE MACHINE, THIS WOULD BE PERFECT FOR A GARDEN TERRARIUM . KIND OF NOISY,
AWESOME PRICE .
