Description (please review shipping notes below)
Invented by G.Q.F. Manufacturing Co. over 30 years ago, the Hova-Bator is still the WORLD’S BEST SMALL INCUBATOR and the THERMAL AIR FLOW MODEL, is the most economical, reliable incubator available. The radiant heat tube gently warms the inside of the incubator, the air and eggs.
Thermal action of the heated air flowing out the exhaust vents in the top of the incubator, draws fresh air in through the bottom vent. This thermal air flow also assists the drying of the chicks after they hatch. Dimensions 18” x 18” x 7 1 /2”, 110 Volt AC. 25 Watt Heat Element. All Hova-Bator incubators include a sanitary plastic liner (item No. 1765).
Note: This incubator is considered "oversized" via Priority Mail's new mail pricing structure, and although our website will show you the "actual weight" cost, once it is time to ship, the USPS Priority Mail system will actually be charging via DIMENSIONAL weight instead (which we have found to be $10 to $15 higher than the original price quoted for the incubator alone). If you choose Priority Mail shipping, you will be contacted with the actual price by our warehouse, for your final approval. To avoid delays, you can pre-approve additional costs in the "notes" section when you checkout.
The price, as quoted by UPS and Fedex Ground is accurate, for the incubator alone.
ALSO NOTE: Due to the large size of the packaging of this item, it generally needs to be shipped in it's own box (separate from any other items in your order). Small items such as vitamins, small amounts of substrate etc, can be placed inside the incubator box, but large items such as large bulbs, etc etc... need to ship separately). Extra shipping charges may apply. You will be contacted, if this is the case in regards to your personal order.
Product Instructions
— INSTRUCTIONS — (as provided by the manufacturer)
THERMAL AIR FLOW MODEL HOVA-BATORTM INCUBATOR
(PLEASE NOTE!!! Since this incubator is generally used as a chicken egg incubator, instructions provided by the manufacturer below, are mostly for that kind of egg. PLEASE CONSULT A GOOD REPTILE BOOK OR A BREEDER FOR YOUR SPECIES OF REPTILE, FOR PROPER HUMIDITY AND TEMPERATURE LEVELS AND EGG INCUBATING TIPS AND TRICKS - INCUBATING SUBSTRATES ETC.. - DO NOT TURN YOUR REPTILE EGGS - THE INCUBATOR MODEL SOLD ON OUR WEBSITE DOES NOT TURN THE EGGS.)
---------------------------------
NOTE: It is recommended that you operate the incubator with a small quantity of inexpensive eggs to be assured of your operating procedure and the performance of the incubator, before attempting to hatch large quantities of eggs or expensive eggs. Keep Reptile eggs away from moving air. (See Warranty on Page 4).
The location of the machine is important to successful operation. A room temperature from 70° to 80°F. is ideal, and fresh air without drafts is necessary. A well ventilated basement room is often just right. Be sure no direct sunlight strikes the incubator and that it sets level. A consistant room temperature within a few degrees is best. Attach wing nut to adjusting screw and screw into top and onto wafer on inside of top.
CAUTION: Do not place on fine furniture, due to possible water spillage or leakage.
NOTE: An Incubator or Brooder is designed to bring normal room temperature to the desired temperature. Room temperture of 60°F. or below will reduce the temperature in the incubator. Room temperature change of 10°F. or more will change temperature in incubator and is more pronounced below a temperature of 70°F. Place top over bottom and plug in incubator. Watch thermometer through window for temperature level.
STEP ONE: Unpack the incubator from box. Use thermostat bracket as handle to remove the incubator top from inside the bottom, where it is packed for shipping.
STEP TWO: Next, remove the thermometer, and brass thermostat wafer from underneath the liner. Also remove the wingnut and adjusting screw which is under the brass wafer.
STEP THREE: Place wire in bottom.
STEP FOUR: Attach wing nut to adjusting screw and screw into top and onto wafer on inside of top.
STEP FIVE: Place top over bottom and plug in incubator. Watch thermometer through window for temperature level.
STEP SIX: Turn adjusting screw counter-clockwise to increase temperature or clockwise to decrease.Tighten wing nut to secure the setting. The light will come on when the heat is on. (NOTE: AGAIN-PLEASE CONSULT A PROFESSIONAL IN REGARDS TO THE SPECIES YOU ARE HATCHING - YOUR TEMPERATURE NEEDS MAY VARY). Allow the incubator to operate for at least ˝ day to stabilize the setting before putting in eggs. (see note above).
STEP SEVEN: Adjust thermostat accordingly.
SPECIAL POINTS TO REMEMBER
1. Do not bother the thermostat unless it is absolutely necessary. The working of the machine may be affected if the thermostat is tampered with excessively.
2. If the machine does not heat, carefully investigate and see if you have all connections properly made.
3. Do not over crowd eggs.
4. Keep the eggs clean. Perspiration from the hands or any sort of grease is injurious, because it stops up the pores of the shells.
5. Clean your incubator after each hatch with clear water only. Do not use soap or abrasive cleaners in the watcr troughs, as this can cause them to leak. THE PLASTIC LINER FOR THE HOVA-BATOR BOTTOM CAN BE CLEANED USING DETERGENTS OR DISINFECTANTS.
6. After each temperature adjustment, allow ample time for temperature to stabilize.
7. Do not open the lid during hatch.
