Repti Temp Rheostat - For manual heat control

With a turn of the knob, you can adjust the temperature of most non-thermostatically controlled heating devices! Plug in up to two compatible heating items with a combined wattage of up to 150 watts!

Turn your heaters up in the winter and down in the summer depending on your inside house temperatures! Great for use with Zoo Med's Repticare Rock Heater, Ceramic Heat Emitters, ReptiTherm Under Tank Heaters, incandescent heat bulbs (up to 150 watts) as well as other reptile heat devices.

For use with:

• reptile rock heaters
• reptile heat caves
• reptile heat pads or under tank heaters
• reflector spot bulbs
• infrared spot bulbs
• ceramic heat emitters
• all other types of reptile heat lamps up to a total of 150 watts maximum

Warranty:

• ZooMed's Repti Temp Rheostat is guaranteed for defective parts and workmanship for a period of one year from date of purchase. Warranty is void if Rheostat gets wet or shows water damage.
• The warranty is limited to the Rheostat only and does not cover animals or products inside or outside of the terrarium.

FAQ:

Q: What is the difference between a rheostat and a thermostat?

A: A rheostat is basically a dimmer. It allows you to manually reduce the amount of power reaching a heater. A thermostat like the 500R senses the temperature and turns the heater on and off accordingly.

Q: Can I use the rheostat/thermostat with a Reptisun, Avian Sun or Power Sun UV?

A: These lamps need specific line voltages; thy cannot be used with dimmers/rheostats.

Jasmine M from Alabama says: Doesn't work too well. The knob tends to slide, and turning it down to nearly off is still too hot, with the ZooMed 10-20g UTH! I have to fight and use tons of substrate to keep it under 90, and the knob doesn't want to stay in position, so it's really imprecise! And I don't even have a heated herp room, this is at my normal house temperature, and I keep it pretty cool. Like the ball python keeper above said, it just doesn't keep things cool enough. It's ok for my corns, but I won't get this again, and neither will my friend I split orders with, as his is doing the same thing. Trying another rheostat from this site, hope it works better.

Shaun H from Iowa says: This does not work well for Ball Pythons with an under the tank heat pad and a substrate of newpaper or cage carpet. I had to almost turn it off to get the temp to go down to 101 degrees from 119 degrees fahrenheit. Definetly will be ordering a thermostat instead. It was worth a try though.

Before I got it I was constantly having to change between threee different temperature light bulbs to try and get the perfect temp for my sick beardie. Once I got it, it's SO easy to use and allows for minute temperature adjustments so you can get the temperature just right. Since I got it my beardie's health has improved. I'd highly recommend it.
