ZooMed's Precision Analog Reptile Thermometer
- For precise temperature monitoring in terrariums or small animal cages.
- Extreme range from -20° to +120° F (-28° to 60°C) Add additional thermometers, one in each temperature zone in your terrarium (for heat gradients).
All Precision Analog Gauges Feature...
- Professional breeder quality, with large easy-to-read numbers both in Fahrenheit and Celsius.
- Made with precision German movement. Very accurate!
- Unique Velcro backing enables removal of the gauge for those big thorough terrarium cleaning jobs. (You know, like when you use Wipe Out 1 & 2, hint hint!)
- Side vented, "no fog" face allows for quick, accurate readings.
Terrarium Installation: Remove paper backing from the Velcro and attach thermometer to the inside left or right side back wall of your terrarium. Avoid attaching thermometer to areas directly under high intensity heat sources such as basking spot lamps or ceramic heat emitters.
Gradient Reading: Ideally, reptiles should be offered a heat gradient (i.e. terrarium is warmest on one side and gradually cools toward the other) in order to provide the proper living habitat. If using only one thermometer, always make sure this is placed in the middle of the heat gradient zone, and not in the warmest or coolest area of your terrarium. In larger terrariums it is best to add additional thermometers in each temperature zone of the gradient (i.e. warmest, medium, coolest.)
Helpful Hints: ZooMed's Precision Analog Reptile Thermometer allows you to accurately read and monitor the temperature in your reptile's terarrium. Improper temperature is the leading cause of stress and illness in captive reptiles. Ideally, all tropical-type reptiles should be kept between 80-90°F, in order to properly digest their food. Tropical-type reptiles should never be kept below 80°F. Desert-type reptiles and green iguanas should be kept at 85-95°F during daylight hours with temperatures dropping to 80-85° F at night.
Remember that temperature requirements vary among individual species. Consult your reptile specialist at your local pet store for more information.
